1. That He died for our sins according to the Scriptures (see Isaiah 53). In other words, He took our sins upon Himself and died in our place, on our behalf. The fact that He was buried is proof that He actually died.
2. That He was raised to life on the third day according to the Scriptures (see Psalms 16:10 and Psalms 22). This is proof that He has conquered sin and death. After His resurrection He appeared to hundreds of eyewitnesses, which was proof that He rose from the dead.
