The Index Card Trick

Can you cut a hole in an index card so that the hole is big enough for you to step inside of it?

Here's how!

First fold an index card in half.

Cut (carefully!) along the pink line, starting at the creased end.

Stop cutting about half an inch from the edge.

Cut along the blue line at the other side, starting at the creased end.

Cut along the crease, between the two outer strips.

Don't cut the two outer strips!

On the main part of the index card between the two outer strips, cut along the next blue line as in the picture.

Stop cutting about half an inch from the edge.

Cut along the blue line at the other side, as in the picture.

Continue cutting along the blue lines, alternating the direction in which you start cutting.
Continue until there are only two blue lines left.
Your last cut needs to be a single cut between the final two blue lines.
If you did it correctly then you now have a continuous ring.
Step inside the index card!

Soap Bubbles with Your Hands

Here's how to make huge soap bubbles with your hands!

First get your hands good and soapy over the sink.

Then make an "OK" sign with your fingers, but curl your index finger all the way in towards your hand.

Now slide your index finger out towards the tip of your thumb.

Make sure that your index finger stays in contact with your thumb!

Now you should have a film of soap between your index finger and thumb.

Take a deep breath, then blow into the film of soap to make a bubble.

It might take practice to get it to work!

We have found that it helps if you have plenty of water on your hand, and hold your hand close to your mouth.

Soap Rainbows

Here's how to make soap rainbows with your hands!

First get your hands good and soapy over the sink.

Then place your palms together.

Pull your hands slowly apart.

Make sure that your thumbs and index fingers don't lose contact with each other.

Check out the cool swirling colors!

Floating Arm

Stand next to a wall with one arm pressing against the wall.

Push your arm against the wall as if you're trying to move the wall.

Don't push with your body, only push with your arm.

Count to 20 as you push your arm against the wall.

Now step away from the wall and let your arms hang relaxed at your sides.

Your arm will "magically" start to rise into the air by itself!

Can't Lift A Finger

Put your hand on a table with your middle finger tucked way under.

Don't let your middle finger move!

Now lift all of your fingers (if you can!).
